After exploring Macau’s heritage sites, tasting its superb cuisine and experiencing its incredible range of new hotels and spas, what better way to relax than to discover Macau’s lush green sites.

NATURAL ATTRACTIONS

Coloane Island - known as Macau’s lungs, is a paradise for those looking for nature and adventure. Locals escape to Coloane to hike its many trails, bike around the old cobblestone streets and enjoy the serene peace of one of its two beaches: Hac Sa and Cheoc Van.

Trail maps are available at the information booth at the entrance to Seac Pai Van Park, one of Coloane’s main parks, but also can be found at most trailheads. The trails are accessible from Seac Pai Van Park, from the various roadside picnic parks on the island, and from both Cheoc Van and Hac Sa beaches. It is also possible to join the main Coloane Trail, which circles the island at a height of about 328 feet above sea level, from various points on Coloane Peak. The main trailhead is on the Estrada do Alto de Coloane, near the Recreational Fishing Zone.

Hac Sa Beach, or Black Sand Beach - surrounded by mountains and trees, this beach is a favorite among visitors who come from far away to enjoy an afternoon by the South China Sea. At the Hác-Sá Reservoir, behind the Hác-Sá Picnic Park on the main road above the beach, the new Water Activities Centre offers pedal boat rentals, a refreshment pavilion, and a fitness circuit which runs through the wooded area around the reservoir. A long swinging bridge provides pedestrian access from the parking area.

Cheoc Van Beach - another favorite place for water sports aficionados and home to a Youth Centre for Water Sports, a sports complex with an Olympic-size swimming pool, children's pool, tennis courts, and a sports field. There are also playgrounds, picnic and camping areas, and a variety of snack stands, cafes, and restaurants.

POPULAR OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES

Skywalk X – definitely not for the faint hearted, the Macau Tower Skywalk is today the tallest point in the world for Bungee jumping. But the scariest moment may not be the jump at all; the circular walk one must take to the jump point appears to without a rail making adventure seekers feel like they could fall off the 764-foot tall tower at any moment. Have no fear, the world’s first overhead safety system protects all visitors.

Trekking - on Guia Hill and the hills of Taipa and Coloane there are trails equipped for trekking, jogging and exercises. These are safe routes, which offer panoramic views over the city, the islands and the Pearl River, providing wonderful opportunities for nature and photography lovers. From time to time in these trails there are rest stops where visitors can enjoy the surrounding views.

Golf - the Macau Golf & Country Club, located on the south side of Coloane Island and near the Western Resort Complex, is one of the most beautiful golf courses in Asia, and is open to locals and foreigners. With a unique view over the Pearl River and Hác Sá Beach, the course has all the usual international amenities, such as a Pro Shop, spa, restaurant and bar.
